Board of the Michigan Medical Acupuncture Association Meeting, February 20th, 2009

The Board Members of the Michigan Medical Acupuncture Association met on Friday, February 20th, 2009 to discuss current issues related to the Michigan acupuncture registration law. The MMAA board members were joined via conference call by out of state AMMA state chapter representatives and members of the American Health Source Advisory Board.

Key elements covered during the board meeting include:

• A review of the efforts of the MMAA to gain registration for its members.
• A discussion regarding issues related to the conduct of the acupuncture board and its members.
• A review of the information received at the last MI Board of Acupuncture meeting from the Attorney General's office and the Michigan Department of Community Health.
• Administrative and legal avenues available to the MMAA in protections of its members' registration rights.
• Updates on the MMAA / AMMA Practical Acupuncture training program.
